Bin Laden is Dead

Yes, this gets its own post. My brother texted me to watch his channel because of the breaking news. I didn't really believe it (even though he works for the media) until I went to my home page and saw it was breaking there too, so I watched until the president confirmed. I guess I just really wanted to hear him say it, even if it was in the vaguest terms possible.

Sent my mom this text: "Wow"
What she sent back: "Amazing news finally. Got the focus off the big wedding."
Hahaha, I love my mom.

I don't know how much this changes things, if at all; and there's already a lot of talk about this being the eight-year anniversary of that "Mission Accomplished" debacle; but it's still pretty amazing. <3

I think it's more symbolic than anything at this point, but it's a hell of a symbol. It won't solve anything in the long run, but it's still significant.

I heard someone else say the exact same thing about the wedding, lol.

I've said this elsewhere, but I don't think it's going to do much because there are all sort of splinter groups causing problems that won't stop just because he's dead. All over the news they were remarking on how little he actually commanded in recent years, and it's not like he was ever going to have the last word on terrible things to do to other people. I've never been for the death penalty, though that has it's own issues for sure, but at the same time, I really hope this brings closure to some people. It's the end of that chapter, I think, even if we'll never be finished. I'm not really celebrating it, but his death doesn't make me sad either.

Haha, my mom can be pretty silly. She's been all kinds of hating on that wedding.
