The Car Thief
Apr. 2nd, 2009 11:14 amIn Indiana, or was it Tennessee?
I busted in your windows.
Amid the screeching squall of your alarm,
I had to work fast, severing the wires of your radio
before you had a chance to arrest yourself from sleep.
And off the dashboard, I managed to grab
a sleeve of CDs, well worn from use.
Wished it was a purse or wallet, but
anything and everything has worth out here.
I never got used to the noise alarms make,
especially late at night when everyone's sleeping.
But on the run with nowhere to go,
I have to feed the pawnshops something.
Later on, after I'd escaped the party lights,
I traced my fingers over your things and was pleased.
I'm sorry. I wish I could go back and tell you
only later did I realize
You have wonderful taste in music.
