Six Fingers
Apr. 10th, 2009 10:12 amOn tour, I heard once that ancient weavers
wove intentional mistakes into their tapestries
six fingers, a backwards foot, smoke
to ensure they would not upset the Lord.
"Nothing is perfect save our Lord."
My dad railed against this.
"Blasphemy!" he cried,
"To think they could make something perfect."
But drinking in their tapestries, I think
even a calculated mistake
can be beautiful.

I wrote an essay on this topic once as well, but it's so buried I can't find it now. This probably says what I thought only more succinctly.
I also had this poem ready for yesterday, just didn't get around to posting it. Will have another one up later on.
