In every war, bombs must fall.
Sep. 5th, 2009 10:29 amNATO Begins Investigating into Deadly Afghanistan Bombing
Despite there still being a war in Afghanistan, I am glad to read that there are investigations into strikes that needlessly kill civilians. In any war, there are going to be civilian casualties. That's fairly inevitable, but I am happy to read that at least to the press, NATO is representing that they are trying to minimize the number of civilian deaths and are looking into strikes that kill a number of civilians. It gives me hope that maybe the administration is really thinking about some of the consequences of the war on the country itself, not just the "war on terrorism."
Still, I wonder what kind of effect an investigation like this will have on the war in general. I suspect that even though this is in the news today, the results won't be as prominent and easy to find or grasp when or if they are made public.
Stuff like this makes me remember just how little I pay attention sometimes, even when things are important to me. Sigh.
EDIT: But here's something a little more uplifting.-- 200 dancers performing to "Do Re Mi" in an Antwerp train station. Awesome!
Update, read later.
