I'm taking notes from my paper journal. Some will be truncated; others will be expanded. Paper springboarding, if you will.

Grandma and Grandpa's fiftieth anniversary party was cute yesterday. They both wore purple, with Grandma in sparkles and Grandpa in an eggplant-colored suit! It was certainly a sight to see.

-Nice seeing family, though I was weirded out by how different everyone looked and how kids had grown over the years. Teenagers? I remember these kids' births! Ack, scary.

-Austin came and was awkward/bored at times with me. Going to mass was especially strange. Vanessa said, "I could tell you guys hadn't been in church in a few minutes." Ha. I was more worried the agnostic and the atheist would go up in flames simply from being in church.

-Katie made the cake, or rather, decorated it with roses and hearts in purple and gold. She wasn't happy with the imperfections, but it looked good. Everyone raved about how they tasted, so I think that counts. (Homemade strawberry filling, man.)

-Didn't really talk to many people, but everyone was busy or having fun. One of these days I'll have to actually talk with Adrianna, my childhood friend. Life always seems to get in the way these days.

-The Aunts came for the day (lots of driving because they didn't want to leave their dog Lexie alone in San Fransisco). Moya seemed surprised I got another cat. ("Why? Where'd you get it? Don't turn into a crazy cat lady!") I'm glad everyone's concerned about my mental soundness. It was nice to see her and Soon and talk a bit. Don't know when we'll be able to get down to see their place.

-It took a long time to do the toast then cut the cake. That's what Austin and I were waiting for, mostly because he had to work the next day. I would have stayed longer if I could. Grandma and Grandpa did look really cute in their purple outfits dancing together. I wonder what I'll be like fifty years from now, who I'll be with, what will happen.

-Austin and I ended up helping pour champagne. That's about all. We were in the way most of hte rest of the time. It was almost a relief to leave (crowds and me don't get along for long periods of time), and we ended up going through Yerington so we could visit his mom. We got back at midnight and fell into bed.

There's more, of course. Always. My memory is already fading, though, and it's time to get going. Onward and upward until this is naught but a flicker in the mind. Sigh.
