-Ate lunch at Olive Garden
-Had cake with my parents and brother
-Ate dinner at Sushi Club with Austin
That was just the food yesterday. Dear bog, why don't I weigh a million pounds?
So my parents came into town bearing gifts. My brother was hungover I suspect, but it happens to the best of us. We ate delicious lunch I couldn't finish; then after Olive Garden staff sang to me (they were kind of weirded out that I didn't order dessert), we came home and I opened presents and ate a tiny carrot cake from Entenmann's. I also got phone calls from my sisters, who I hadn't heard from in another long while (have to remedy that), and my aunties and grandparents as well as text messages. Very nice to hear from them all.
Austin managed to get out of work early. He told me not to make any plans for the evening, so after my parents left, he gave me several places to choose from to go to dinner. (Good thinking considering I have a terrible time trying to decide where to eat and usually just go along with whatever everyone else wants.) After a sweet dinner at Sushi club complete with warm Saki, we went to see Step Brothers, which looked stupid to me but there wasn't anything playing that I wanted to see. It turned out pretty entertaining if you left your brain at home.
LOOT:
-Sweet Dinosaur Comics shirt from Siobhan (she got it just before she went back to Chile)
-After Dark by Haruki Murakami from My Arch Nemesis
-Gift card from my college buddy Allen
-Chicago style pizza from my aunts (was really surprised by this, arrived on Friday encased in dry ice!)
-Pinot Evil wine from Aurora (with "See no, hear no, and speak no evil" monkeys on the label)
-The first season DVD set of Early Edition from Michael (used to watch this show when it aired. I'm sure it seems super cheesy now)
-Yarn, knitting stuff, books, gift cards, a hand mixer and earrings from my parents
That's not really to revel in all the things I received, I swear. I make lists like this every year to make sure I remember where I got things and all I have to be thankful for, which is a lot. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed by everyone's generosity and kindness even though I'm still at a stalled point in my life. Hopefully, this is only temporary, though.
I had a lot of fun, and now it's time to work on real life again. Have already attempted to balance my checkbook this morning as well as gotten cat food and my pills, so that's a start. Now I'm just hoping my transcripts arrive in the mail, but more on that later. Well on my way to becoming more responsible and adult-like (whatever that means), which is my new year's resolution.
Thanks, everyone! 25 and still alive.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I had a fabulous time hanging out with Aurora the day before as well. We went to Hacienda, played Rock Band, then shot the shit. Nice. ;)
