Really should go to bed.

Okay, so things don't ever really end, but they do evolve.
I had a pretty good day today despite being busy from pretty much the moment I walked in at 7:30 to when I left at 5:30. The big boss gave each of us a flowering cactus! I hope I don't kill it. And yeah, I spent most of my time in a coworker's office listening to her read me numbers, which is super boring, but we also talked in between about a variety of topics. My other coworkers are awesome too. I don't know if I mention that often, but it's true. I laughed a lot. So we're working really crazy hours and there are aspects I don't like, but days like this just solidify my hope that I'll be able to keep working there once my temporary position is up in November. Who knows, though? I'm not holding my breath. Unfortunately, I'm very aware of the fact there's still no money. :/
There are always depositions. Well, not really. I just remembered I need to email my aunt about that, though. My freelance work is so back and forth. That's the nature of this field-- feast or famine. You're either in the middle of a big push to prepare for trial, or you're doing a lot of busy work. It's like anything else, I guess. Even my current job involves a LOT of waiting and then working as fast as we can to get the work out so we can go back to MORE waiting. I'm happy to have it, though. Right about here I could start complaining about the economy, but you've heard it all before. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I brought in pinwheels* for the potluck our unit had (even though we only had half an hour for lunch because of the project we're doing), and I ate way too much good food-- meatball sandwich, Mexican lasagna, lime-garlic chicken wings, shrimp cocktail, vegetables, spinach salad, cucumber soup, lots of dips, banana pudding, strawberries, ambrosia, Oreo cake and I don't know what else. I really don't want to think about the calories, but I had to try a little of everything. So good! (Besides, I worked out today then only ate cereal for dinner. Shut it, brain. You too, scale.)
Aw, I still have two days of work left this week because they're holding a floor session Saturday, but I get Mother's Day off? That's a plus for sure.
Did I just write an entire entry about work? Wow, how can I bore you more? I think I'll stop.
Something not about work? Uh, yesterday, someone I haven't talked to in ages asked me if I was married yet. Interesting question.
*Bonus! Pinwheel Recipe
2 8 oz. packages of cream cheese
1 package ranch dressing mix
4 oz. diced pimentos, rinsed and drained
4 oz. diced olives, rinsed and drained
4 oz. diced green chilies, rinsed and drained
(You can also add green onions or diced shallots; but I realized I only have butter knives here; so I didn't in this application.)
4 12" tortillas (give or take)
Mix together cream cheese, ranch dressing mix, and your diced "veggies". Spread the mix on the tortillas and roll them up. Slice the tortillas into rounds. Voila, pinwheels!
Make them! They're awesome. Really, I'm done now. Thanks for stopping by.

Tag your it

Date: 2011-05-07 11:34 pm (UTC)Anyway, I'm home after only seven hours of work, and it's kind of sad that I say "only" when it's all overtime during the weekends. Oh well. Things are mostly boring here with work and cleaning up after my cats taking up the majority of my time. We have a month left in session, so we're really racking up hours (48.5 in overtime this pay period alone.) Yeah, but enough about that. What's up with you? Debacle? Doesn't sound good. Will have to catch up in a more substantial way soon.
Oh also, you made someone cry? Classic. I would have loved to see that, haha.
