Dear organic peanut butter
sitting unused and expired in the
fridge

I remember how, when I saw you in the market
your glass jar and odd separated contents
seemed like such a good idea
being organic
free of preservatives
natural and all

But now, as I'm trying to dig out
the last of your caked on remains
I'm contemplating chucking you and the
whole sordid mess in the trash
recycling and the environment be damned
if it means I don't have to fight with you anymore

I think I just described
every failed relationship
I've ever had
